Promulgation Scholarship policy 2022 – 2023 for gifted students with outstandingachievement in academic performances and social activities

Each year St. Nicholas School offers full-tuition scholarships and partial scholarships to support students on their way to achieve their dream.

This is a good way for our school to encourage students to grow and learn under the qualified American Educational System right here in Danang.

  1. Eligibility

– For SNS students: The scholarship is offered to all eligible Grades 6 to 12 students for both International program and Integrated program.

– For students from all over the country who wish to study at SNS: The scholarship is offered to:

Grades 6 to 10 students for International program

Grades 7, 8, 10 students Integrated program.

  1. SNS Scholarship values

– For SNS students: The school offers 2 full-tuition scholarships, 3 partial (50% worth of tuition fees) scholarships for both International program and Integrated program.

– For students from all over the country who wish to study at SNS: The school offers 2 full-tuition scholarships, 3 partial (50% worth of tuition fees) scholarships for both International program and Integrated program.

  1. Scholarship Eligibility Criteria
  • For Grade 6 students: Candidates must have:

– Finished Grade 5 with overall grades of Math, Vietnamese Language Art, and English must be 9.0. The grades of all other subjects must be 8.0 or higher;

– Good comments are from homeroom teacher (Report cards are recommended);

– Active participation in social and community activities.

  • For Grade 7 students: Candidates must have:

– Upper Second-Class Honors in Grade 6;

– Active participation in social and community activities.

  • For Grade 8 students: Candidates must have:

– Upper Second-Class Honors in Grade 6,7;

– Active participation in social and community activities.

  • For Grade 9 students: Candidates must have:

– Upper Second-Class Honors in Grade 6,7,8;

– Active participation in social and community activities.

  • For Grade 10 students: Candidates must have:

– Upper Second-Class Honors in Grade 6,7,8,9;

– Active participation in social and community activities.

  • For Grade 11 students: Candidates must have:

– Upper Second-Class Honors in Grade 10;

– Active participation in social and community activities.

  • For Grade 12 students: Candidates must have:

– Upper Second-Class Honors in Grade 10,11;

– Active participation in social and community activities.

  1. Application Process

Round 1 – Student’s Profile and Essay (Essay topic is given by SNS) submitted to Admission Department – Marketing Office (150 points).

* The Profile must include:

+ Filled Scholarship Application Form (provided by SNS) with applicant’s picture attached;

+ Copies of official Academic Transcripts;

+ Copies of other Academic Awards or Qualifications.

Round 2 – Multiple Choice IQ and EQ Test (100 points): Students with a minimum of 75/150 points from Round 1 (with a minimum of 25 points for the Essay) will proceed to Round 2.

Round 3 – Interview: Students will be interviewed by the St. Nicholas School’s Educational Council. Students with a minimum of 80/100 Points from Round 2 will move on to the 3rd, final round.

– Scholarship Announcement: After all three rounds are concluded, scholarships will be announced from Higher to Lower in value. The announcement will typically take place in May, and the scholarship will apply from the beginning of the school year.

(The School’s scholarship-related decisions are not subject to appeals).

  1. Required Documents for Student Profile

*The Profile must include:

– Filled Scholarship Application Form (provided by SNS) with applicant’s picture attached;

– Copies of official Academic Transcripts;

– Copies of other Academic Awards or Qualifications.

  1. Time and place of application
  • Duration:

– For students from all over the country who wish to study at SNS: From 30/06/2022 to 09/07/2022. In the morning from 8:00 to 11:30 am, afternoon from 13:00 to 16:30 pm.

– For SNS students: From 15/08/2022 to 25/08/2022. In the morning from 8:00 to 11:30 am, afternoon from 13:00 to 16:30 pm.

  • Location:

Admission Department of St. Nicholas school, 458 Nguyen Huu Tho Street, Khue Trung Ward, Cam Le District, Da Nang City.

  1. Evaluation timeline

For students from all over the country who wish to study at SNS:

  • From July 10, 2022 to July 12, 2022: Evaluating round 1.
  • July 12, 2022: Announcing students proceeded to the second round.
  • 8:00 am, July 15, 2022: 2nd round examination.
  • July 18, 2022: Announcing students proceeded to the interview round.
  • 8:00 am, July 20, 2022: Interviewing students 
  • July 20, 2022: Announcing scholarships.

For SNS students:

  • From August 29, 2022 to September 2, 2022: Evaluating round 1.
  • September 9, 2022: Announcing students proceeded to the second round.
  • 8:00 am, September 10, 2022: 2nd round examination.
  • September 14, 2022: Announcing students proceeded to the interview round.
  • 8:00 am, September 17, 2022: Interviewing students 
  • September 20, 2022: Announcing scholarships.
  1. Scholarship-maintaining Requirements

Scholarship-awarded students are responsible for maintaining excellent academic performance, being active in their social and community activities, and being a good representation for SNS’s image.

*Below are the requirements students must satisfy to keep the scholarship active and to have it transferred to the following years:

  • Academic Results:

– Having Upper Second-Class Honors and good conduct though out the academic year;

– Having At least two of the three Math, Language Art, and English subjects must have minimum overall grades of 9.0. All other subjects’ overall grades must be 8.5 or higher. (Or equivalent results on the 100 scale);

– Having Good results from academic competitions of City-level or above are prioritized.

  • Manner and Conduct:

– Having good conduct evaluation throughout the year;

– Being a good and active representation of St. Nicholas school.

  • School and Social Activities:

– Being active in school’s activities and helping others in school-related matters;

– Participating in higher-level activities such as taking part in the Students’ Council, Clubs, or School-level events;

– Participating in charities or volunteer activities from the government or Non-profit Organizations;

  1. Scholarship termination:

The offered scholarship will be terminated in the following events:

– Student fails to comply with requirements as listed in Article 9;

– Student violates the rules of the school or the law of Vietnam.

The school will terminate the related scholarship(s) as soon as it is notified and has verified that such violation has occurred.
